Jim Carbin has been writing and performing his own songs for 20 years in various original bands. He is influenced strongly by the great song writers of the American country and Folk scene such as Willy Nelson, John Prine, Neil Young, Jim Croce and the likes…

His first band was Back Pedal Breaks which was set up on the early 2000’s.

As time went on he formed, with long time friend and guitarist Paul ‘Skippie’ Meehan, the band Acoustic Breaks and took to playing classic rock and blues along with collaborating on many new songs and tunes. When original drummer Mick McGettigan left the band he was replaced by Scott McGettigan (no relation) who plays on and helped arrange the songs on the album.

Jim also plays mandolin in a Bluegrass band locally called Erdini.

Jim has shared a stage with the likes of Donal Lunny, the Henry Girls, Charlie McGettigan and performed at various festivals around the country, regularly bringing the house down at the Rory Gallagher tribute festival in Ballyshannon, the Omagh Bluegrass festival and the Craft Beer festival in Doolin to name a few.

Jim has finished his first full Album called ‘Long Time Comin’ which was recorded with Percy Robinson in Ramelton, Co Donegal and was released in November 2018.

Acoustic Breaks are backing on most of the album but it also features the Henry Girls on the opening track ‘Emma’, the wonderful Percy Robinson is on Dobro and Pedal Steel guitar on many of the tracks.
